Everyone who works on the harbour is a volunteer and they are key to the future of a local historical asset. They are the ambassadors of the harbour project. They perform various roles, but most importantly they protect the future of the harbour, and work to provide a community asset available to the people of Northfleet and Ebbsfleet.
We are looking for people with enthusiasm, commitment and an interest for maritime, local, or industrial history. The role requires volunteers to carry out site clearance to enable archaeological digs, cataloguing of finds, and historical research. We ask volunteers to commit to at least one shift per calendar month. Here at Northfleet Harbour, we will provide full site and safety induction and ongoing opportunities as the project progresses.
If you would like to become more involved with Northfleet Harbour, we can offer you the following:
- The opportunity to be a part of reviving a piece of local history
- The opportunity to develop new skills
- The opportunity to deliver a new asset for the community
- A new social opportunity – a good chance to meet interesting people and make new friends
Volunteering sessions occur every second and fourth Sunday of the month, and every Bank Holiday (not including Christmas and New Year). Sessions run between 9.00am and 12.00 noon, and you can turn up and give the full three hours, or as much time as you have.
To register an interest please fill in the form below; or come down to the harbour on the next session.
